William Fleetwood was born in the Tower of London on 1 January 1656, the son of a clerk in the Ordnance Office. He died 4 August 1723 at Tottenham, Middlesex. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge (BA 1679, MA 1683, DD 1705).
