A deep muscle of the forearm, partly covered by the flexor digitorum superficialis. It has its origins on the anterior surface of the radius and its insertion on the distal phalanx of the thumb. Its primary actions include flexion of the interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal joints of the thumb. It also acts as a weak wrist flexor.
