Quick Reference

A protein (FLICE-inhibitory protein, caspase-8 related protein, CASPER, 480 aa) that interacts with caspase 3, caspase 8 (FLICE), FADD, TRAF1, and TRAF2 through different domains and by inhibiting caspase 8 may block the cascade that leads to apoptotic death. A range of alternatively spliced variants have been found, not all of which inhibit caspases. Viral FLIPs (v-FLIPs) are produced by various herpesviruses.
