Mexican dancer, choreographer, designer, and director. He studied at the Mexican Dance Academy, then in 1951 joined the National Ballet of Mexico, moving to Fine Arts Ballet in 1959 as dancer and designer. After a year studying modern dance in the US, he founded the Independent Ballet of Mexico in 1966, for which he choreographed and designed many works including La espera (mus. Revueltas, 1973), Terpsicore en México (mus. various, 1987), and Poeta (mus. Schubert and others, 1988). His eclectic style displayed a distinctive wit and irreverence.
