Quick Reference

A supplemental liquid form of fluoride usually administered to children over the age of 6 months, at a dosage dependent on the age of the child and body weight. The success in reducing caries is largely dependent on patient compliance; this is generally poor in high-risk groups and therefore it is not considered to be an effective public health measure.
