As telecommunications systems have got more sophisticated it has meant that the services offered by telephone companies have become more sophisticated. A conventional follow me service enables a subscriber to use a telephone number to which calls to their mobile, home telephone, or office telephone can be diverted when they are away from them. Such conventional services have now been supplemented by the ability to divert phone calls and FAXes to an email account: these can then be displayed or replayed on a PC. This type of service is an example of a general trend: the gradual integration of conventional communications services with computer and Internet technology. See also FAX to email service.
