An assessment that focuses on persons who have previously been the subjects of research, clinical investigation, or therapeutic intervention. Followup studies include cohort studies, in which study subjects are reassessed at specified intervals, and surveillance by cancer registries and clinics from which 5- and 10-year survival rates for treatment of cancer at various sites are derived.
