Quick Reference

The process that occurs when a document using a particular set of fonts is displayed on a computer on which one or more of the fonts are not installed. The software that is carrying out the display, for example a browser, substitutes a font that looks most like the missing font. This can lead to the design of the document being compromised. See Web font for a possible solution to this problem.
