Quick Reference

Any device that secures an astronaut's foot for stability in the microgravity atmosphere. In the space shuttle, Velcro foot-loop restraints are used by placing one or both feet in the loop. They are located on the ‘floor’ of the aft flight deck work stations, galley, waste collection system, and mid-deck lockers. Foot restraints on the shuttle's gunwales are also used by astronauts on extravehicular activities.
