The marks left by footwear at a crime scene. The marks may be impressed, e.g. in soil or snow, or transfer surface marks, where the footwear has transferred dust, damp, or other contaminant to a surface. Casting, photographing, or electrostatic lifting devices may recover the marks for comparison with the shoes of a suspect or to link scenes.
