A psychological repugnance to some foods provoked by emotions associated with the food rather than by any chemical properties within the food. Unlike a food allergy or food intolerance, there is no adverse reaction if the food causing the aversion is given in an unrecognizable form. Anorexia nervosa is regarded by some as an extreme form of food aversion.
