An order (introduced by s 114 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003) made by a magistrate on the application of the chief officer of police for an area in which the defendant lives, or to which he may travel, to prohibit the defendant from travelling outside the UK for a period of up to six months. The defendant must have been previously convicted of a qualifying offence (sexual offences against or involving children) and he has acted in such a way as to give reasonable belief that it is necessary to make the order for the purpose of protecting children in general or a particular child from serious sexual harm from the defendant outside the UK.
