Or form of government, June 1264, was arrangements after the victory of Simon de Montfort at Lewes for a provisional government until a settlement of the dispute with Henry III had been reached. The king was to be advised by a council of nine. But when Prince Edward, who had been a hostage, escaped in May 1265, negotiation was at an end, and de Montfort was killed at Evesham.
