(bc.1720; d1786). French sculptor, porcelain modeller and arcanist. In 1747, while working at VIncennes Porcelain Factory, he was commissioned to supply figures of river gods (e.g. Williamstown, MA, Clark A. Inst.) and naiades (e.g. London, V & A). He subsequently worked at Chantilly (1752-9) and in Copenhagen (1559-66), where he was a partner in a porcelain factory and designed many models for pot purri.
