Post University, and author of the novels Poor George (1967), concerning the unhappy life of a Manhattan schoolteacher; Desperate Characters (1970), depicting the relatively undramatic but loveless life of a middle-aged married couple in New York City; The Western Coast (1972), presenting a young New York woman trying to find herself by moving to California, and then to England; and The Widow's Children (1976), about the relationships and lack of affection among family members. She has also written books for children.
