(Guben, 1618–77, Guben), a lawyer and councillor in Guben, composed simply written, deeply felt hymns, which were published in Vaterunsers-Harfe (1646) and Geistliches Sion (1674). They include ‘Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele’ (1649), which Klopstock submitted to considerable adaptation in Veränderte Lieder attached to Geistliche Lieder (1758). Franck also wrote a German version of the Te Deum, composed in 1648 for the end of the Thirty Years War (see Dreissigjähriger Krieg).
