Eng. composer and conductor. Watchmaker's apprentice. Studied mus. in Ger., returning to London (GSMD) 1923. Worked as café musician and as jazz‐band violinist, leader, and orchestrator (orch. of Coward's Operette and many C. B. Cochran revues). On staff GSMD 1946. Many of his more serious comps. are in 12‐note system. Wrote 8 syms., vn. conc., va. conc., 5 str. qts., and mus. for over 100 films.
