A form genus of fungi, which form a septate mycelium and produce macroconidia. They can grow saprotrophically but can also be responsible for some important plant diseases, including wilts in various types of cultivated plant (e.g. banana and flax); some species are also pathogenic in crustaceans and insects. Some species have perfect (sexual) states classified in the Ascomycotina.
