(?1680–1751), author of sermons in Irish. Born in the diocese of Kilmore, he was educated in Paris and Rome, returning to become Catholic Bishop of Raphoe from 1725, and of Kildare, 1737–51. His Sixteen Sermons in An Easy and Familiar Stile (1735), with facing translations, was one of the very few books published in Irish in the time of the Penal Laws.
