(1757–1829) Revolutionary army officer, born in Charleston, South Carolina. Garden was a member of Lee's Legion (a noted cavalry force commanded by Henry “Light-Horse Harry” Lee), and later an aide-de-camp to Gen. Nathanael Greene, but known primarily for his postwar role in celebrating and romanticizing the Revolutionary War in a published collection of anecdotes and character portraits (1822).
