n. a rare tumour that secretes excess amounts of the hormone gastrin, causing the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Such tumours most frequently occur in the pancreas; about half of them are malignant. Patients have very high levels of gastric acid and often present with complex and intractable gastroduodenal ulceration.
