An instrument used to determine measurements of an object, such as the bore of a needle. A Willis bite gauge is used to measure the vertical dimension during the construction of a complete denture; two measuring points are selected in the midline of the face, one related to the nose and one to the chin.

An undercut gauge is a device attached to a dental cast surveyor to measure the extent of the convexity of a tooth.
