A female teacher within the Rāmakṛṣṇa tradition. At the age of eighteen she had become an itinerant devotee of Kṛṣṇa, but after encountering Rāmakṛṣṇa in 1880, she worked, at his behest, for the education of women, and in 1884 founded the Śrī Śrī Śāradeśwarī Āśrama for women next to the Gaṅgā in Barrackpore, north of Calcutta.
