(Lugbara/DRCongo, Sudan, Uganda)
The creator god created a man, Gborogboro, the person coming from the sky, and a woman, Meme, the person who came alone. The Lugbara are descended from these first creatures put on earth by God at the beginning of the world.
Meme was full of wild animals, who sprang from her womb. The gazelle burst out, followed by the other beasts. After the animals had left Meme's womb, the creator god put children in it. Meme bore a boy and a girl. These siblings produced another male and female pair, who did the same in their turn. There were several generations of siblings, after which the heroes, Jaki and Dribidu, were born. Mankind was thus separated from God in the sky, and this was followed by the separation of peoples. At one point, humans built a tower to the sky, but it was destroyed. See also: Adro, Jaki and Dribidu.
