Quick Reference

(born 29 February 1852; died 29 July 1936; Justice 1913–31; Chief Justice 1931–35) was the first son of the second marriage of Charles Gavan Duffy (to Charles' first cousin, Susan Hughes). When Charles became tired of facing treason trials in Ireland, he left with his family, including the three-year-old Frank, for the recently established colony of Victoria. They arrived at Port Phillip on the Ocean Chief in early 1856.
