Founded in 1911, the Society is based at 14 Charterhouse Buildings, London EC1M 7BA, where it has the largest specialized library of books, journals, manuscripts, indexes, and microfiche and computer databases on genealogy (see apprenticeship; Boyd's Marriage Index). The Society holds regular lecture meetings and publishes guides to records, as well as the quarterly Genealogists’ Magazine.
