Quick Reference

An immobilized oligonucleotide array used to screen an RNA sample (after reverse transcription) to determine which genes are being expressed. The oligonucleotides may be specific probes for known genes (e.g. G-protein-coupled receptors) or a random set of defined sequences where the genes will be unknown but the pattern of hybridization is indicative of the expression profile.
