germ cell nuclear factor

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A nuclear orphan receptor (GCNF, retinoid receptor-related testis-associated receptor, RTR, 480 aa), encoded by the NR6A1 gene, that functions as a transcriptional repressor, mainly in the germ cells of testis in adults. It is reported to be a negative regulator of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ (PPARδ) gene, represses several pluripotency genes and is transiently expressed in mammalian carcinoma cells during retinoic acid-induced neuronal differentiation.
