Gesta Grayorum

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Records of Gray's Inn printed in 1688, which include an account of the Christmas revels of 1594 when ‘A Comedy of Errors, like to Plautus his Menaechmi, was played by the players.’ This was almost certainly Shakespeare's play performed by his company. The exceptional shortness of the play has led to the conjecture that it was written for this occasion.
