The test for dishonesty in theft. Following the decision in R v Ghosh [1982] 2 All ER 689 the jury should if necessary be directed to apply a two part test. First, was what the defendant did dishonest by the ordinary standards of reasonable honest people; and, if so, did the defendant realise that what he did was dishonest by those (rather than his own) standards.
