(Wolf‐Ferrari: Il segreto di Susanna). Bar. Husband of Susanna. He detects the smell of tobacco in the house.

As he does not smoke, he suspects that his wife must have a secret lover. When she keeps slipping out of the house, he assumes she is going to meet her lover. One day he returns unexpectedly and her secret is out—it is she who is the smoker. He is most relieved and decides that he too will smoke. Created (1909) by Herr Brodersen.
