GINS complex

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A multiprotein complex (go-ichi-ni-san complex, 100 kDa) essential for the initiation and elongation phases of genome duplication. The four subunits, Sld5, Psf1 (partner of Sld5-1), Psf2, and Psf3, are ubiquitous and evolutionarily conserved in eukaryotic organisms. The complex mediates the loading of the enzymatic replication machinery at a step after the action of the S-phase kinases and may be a part of the replication machinery itself.
