A multilateral international coalition to promote vaccine development, dissemination, and delivery to populations that need vaccines, especially in low-income countries. The partners and donors include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank, WHO, UNICEF, nongovernmental organizations, national governments, research institutes, and manufacturers of vaccines. GAVI has been active in developing new vaccines for meningococcal meningitis, Japanese B encephalitis, and others, and improving vaccines for pertussis, rubella, etc. Details are available at http://www.vaccinealliance.org/.
