Quick Reference

Research into environmental issues at the global scale, which reflects growing interest in two sets of processes. First, there are the natural environmental processes that are global in scale. This includes plate tectonics, atmospheric circulation, ocean currents, the water cycle, and the biogeochemical cycles. Second, there are induced environmental changes at local and regional scales which are becoming issues of global concern. Obvious examples include air pollution, climate change, deforestation, desertification, ocean pollution, ozone depletion, soil erosion, and tropical forest clearance.
