n. a drug used to control high blood-glucose levels (hyperglycaemia) in patients with type 2 diabetes after diet control has failed (see sulphonylurea). It is administered by mouth; side-effects are hypoglycaemia, nausea and vomiting, and skin rash. Trade names: Glibenese, Minodiab.
