Quick Reference

A fixative used especially for electron microscopy. It forms crosslinks between proteins by the interaction of its two aldehyde groups with amino groups of the proteins. Glutaraldehyde-fixed proteins are less likely to retain their native configuration than formaldehyde-fixed proteins.
