Antigenic variants (altered amino acid epitopes; 25 are known) of the constant γ heavy chains of the IgG subclasses IgG1, IgG2 and IgG3. Gm allotypes have an influence on IgG subclass levels but their significance in predisposition to disease is unclear and the proportion of various allotypes in different populations is very variable. Comparable allotypes (Km) are found in the κ light chain.
