Roman poet, whose early verse belongs to the neoclassical Scuola romana. He then turned to Carduccian patriotic odes. His later poems, published under the pseudonym Giulio Orsini, are formally innovative and anticipate the tone of the Crepuscolari. Gnoli was a successful librarian, who headed the national and other libraries in Rome.
