Quick Reference

One of the three types of heterotrimeric GTP-binding proteins, those that are neither stimulatory (Gs) nor inhibitory (Gi) but ‘other’ (Go). They are the most abundant brain G proteins and their effects are mostly mediated by the G βγ dimer, with the specific functions of the α subunit remaining rather unclear, although it may mediate interaction with the PKA signalling pathway. Not to be confused with G0, the resting phase of the cell cycle.
