German-US dancer and mime artist. She studied with Wigman and appeared in cabaret in Berlin before leaving Germany in 1933. As part of Erika Mann's cabaret The Peppermill, she visited the US in 1937 and subsequently worked in Hollwood, choreographing for her own company and for film. She also taught a highly individual form of dance-mime, her pupils including Marilyn Monroe.
