Applied to a fine-scale intergrowth of quartz and either alkali feldspar or plagioclase, found as interstitial, late-stage products in the groundmass of granites. The texture is formed by simultaneous and rapid crystallization of the two phases from the late-stage liquid trapped between the earlier formed crystals.
