Quick Reference

A protruding pin on a spacecraft that is normally used to retrieve it in space. The Canadarm, the remote-controlled arm on the space shuttle and International Space Station (ISS), is used for this task. The wires of the Canadarm's end effector at the end of the arm serve as a grappling snare, closing over the grappling pin to capture a payload in space. The Canadarm is also stowed in the ISS Destiny module by attaching each end to a grappling pin.
