Danish dancer, choreographer, and director. He trained at the Royal Danish Ballet School, and then at the School of American Ballet, graduating into New York City Ballet in 1986 then moving to American Ballet Theatre in 1988 and to Paris Opera Ballet in 1989 where Nureyev promoted him to étoile. He additionally danced with Stuttgart Ballet in 1990 and the Vienna State Opera Ballet in 1991, finally returning to Denmark, as principal dancer, in 1992. An exceptionally tall dancer with a commanding dramatic presence, Greve danced lead roles in both the classical and 20th-century repertories and also guested widely, partnering Yanowsky in performances with the Royal Ballet. He has choreographed several ballets for students and workshops, also Hamlet (2003) for the South African Ballet and Nutcracker (2007) for the Royal Danish Ballet.

In 2008 he retired from the stage to become director of the National Ballet of Finland. He is married to the dancer Marie-Pierre Greve.
