An account associated with a group of users. Group accounts can be used to associate a series of access controls with a group of users: for example, ensuring that the group can only read or write to specific files in a computer system. Group accounts are also used for day-to-day accounting purposes, such as keeping project-based data on computer use which can then be used for billing purposes.
