Abbot of Nogent, near Laon, from 1104. He opposed Berengar's Eucharistic teaching. He wrote Moralia on Genesis, prefaced by an essay on biblical interpretation and preaching; a tract ‘On the Incarnation against the Jews’; a history of the first Crusade; an astonishing attack on the abuse of relics; and an autobiography.
