An important translator of central Indian origin who travelled to Sri Lanka and later arrived by sea in China during the Liu Song period. He carried out most of his translation of Mahāyāna andHīnayāna texts, including such texts as the Śrīmālā-devi-siṃhanāda Sūtra and the Laṇkāvatāra Sūtra, while residing in southern China.
