hermit. Of royal blood, he was a monk at Repton. He later migrated to an island in the Fens, where he lived a life of severe asceticism. The Guthlac Roll (now in the British Library) consists of drawings depicting his life. Feast day, 11 Apr. (in some calendars, 12 Apr.).
