Cz. composer. Studied Brno Cons. 1919–21 and in Janáček's master class 1920–2, then worked as private comp. teacher. Sent to Terezin concentration camp 1941, where he continued to compose. Was moved to Auschwitz 1944 and gassed. Works incl. opera The Charlatan (1934–7, prod. Brno 1938); sym. (1941); 3 str. qts. (1920, 1925, 1938); wind quintet (1929); Suite, ob., pf. (1939); 4 Songs on Chinese Poetry, bass, pf. (1944), and choral works.
