(Japanese: ‘robe of heaven’)
A satellite put into orbit around the Moon by Japan. The launch marked Japan as the third nation to put a satellite into lunar orbit. The 11.7-kg satellite was launched in March 1990 from the Hiten satellite, but Hagoromo's transmitter, used by ground stations to track it, failed almost immediately and contact was never recovered.
