A Japanese radio astronomy satellite, part of the VLBI Space Observatory Programme, known as Muses-B before its launch in 1997 February. HALCA (Highly Advanced Laboratory for Communications and Astronomy) carried an 8-m radio dish. It is known in Japanese as Haruka, meaning ‘far away’. It ceased observations in 2003 October.
